Cyberduck Quick Start

​Cyberduck is an open source freeware FTP, SFTP and WebDAV, Cloud Files, Google Docs, Amazon S3 browser client for Mac and Windows. It can be used as a WebDAV client to access project files.

Note that OS X 10.5 and Windows are supported in the current version. OS X 10.4 is only supported up to version 3.2.1 (the disk image is available for download from their changelog page).

Setting up Cyberduck for first use

Proxy settings

The client automatically uses the system default settings. There is no support for using different settings.

Setting up a new connection

The main window is shown below. To start setting up a new connection, click on the small + icon on the bottom left of the main window. The dialog below is then displayed:

• From the dropdown choose WebDAV (HTTP/SSL).
• Type a "Nickname" for your project (typically your project's name).
• Click on More Options to see the extra fields you need and then enter the following information:

The project's id is the same as the URL path for your main page, for example the URL of the Help and Support project is http://projects.developer.nokia.com/HelpAndSupport/ so the project's id is "HelpAndSupport".

When you are done, close the dialog to save the results (simply click on the red "cross" icon on the top right).

Connecting to your WebDAV server

After the connection is created, you can open it by double clicking on its name in the main view, i.e. “My Project” in our example.

Cyberduck will display a browser window from which you can view the files in your WebDAV repository. You can also drag and drop files between this window and Windows Explorer and perform other common file operations including creating, deleting and renaming both folders and files.
