About Nokia Mobile Mathematics
Nokia Mobile Mathematics is an innovative educational intervention using mobile telephones. It is spearheaded by Nokia in partnership with several global and South African partners.
The Nokia Mobile Mathematics service includes:
- maths theory descriptions
- maths exercises
- maths tests
- individual progress reports
- comparative usage and attainment
- competitions
Teachers can use this wide library of maths content and exercises:
- to support their teaching
- for homework
- for revision
- for additional practice
- for communicating with learners
Teachers can also keep track of learners who are using the service and how they are doing with their exercises. Learners can use Nokia Mobile Mathematics to practice mathematical exercises and compare their progress with other learners in their class, province or country.
To access the service, learners can:
- use their own mobile phones
- borrow a mobile phone from a friend or family member
- use a mobile phone provided by their school
- use the Nokia MObile Mathematics website
In 2011 Nokia Mobile Mathematics is being used in:
- South Africa with Grade 10 mathematics learners
- Finland with mathematics students in Grade 10 in selected schools
