gNewsReader is QML/JavaScript based Google Reader Client for Symbian

gNewsReader is Google reader client written in QML and utilizing QT-Components.

Now also available at ovi store  http://store.ovi.com/content/185552 for small fee
Some of the features include

1) Unread count display - option to filter by unread count in subscription list view. Application remembers the filter mode
2) Subscription list shows sections for folders/tags, feeds can be directly unsubscribed/renamed/marked all as read using long press menu, tags can also be clicked for navigation and have long press menu
3) New feeds can be subscribed using Add Subscription menu in subscription view.
4) Uses Google OAuth2 protocol for authorization, application does not store google id and password
5) GZip compression support for faster data download from Google Reader server. Also reduces data download amount.
6) Use of QML WebView? for browsing the Feed Item contents for a richer and faster scrolling view
7) Read status automatically synched when viewing feed item detail page. support starring, share (Google reader, facebook, twitter, read it later and instapaper) and like options
8) E6 Keypad support

NOTE: QT-COMPONENTS sis file is now installed by smart installer. and hence removed from downloads please report any issues.

Planned Features (in no particular order)

• Search feed by title (adaptive visual search for touch phones, keyboard search for likes of E6) - Mostly this needs to wait for Qt 4.7.4 for split screen support
  
• White theme for black text on white/gray background (can be switched from settings menu)
  
• Tap statusbar to go to top or add quick top/bottom buttons while panning/scrolling
  
• Open in default browser as set by user
  
• Support for Gestures (swipe to bring up options, swipe left/right for browsing)
  
• Remaining subscription management features (Rename folder, move feed between folder)
  
• Only show unread in feed list when show unread filter is active
  
• Font size change to override default font size to make it bigger/smaller
  
• Support for Podcasts (audio/video)
  
• Open links in default browser (not just the article)
  
• Fullscreen view for feed item display
  
• Offline mode with disk cache
  

UPDATE (13-Sep-2011) - 1.0 version now on ovi store. left/right swipe, keep unread support, better visual diff in subsrciption view and list view, better status messages, experimentant add blocker and bugfixes (see announcement for full details). UPDATE (20-Aug-2011) - New 0.9.24 version -Auto decrement unread count, Shared feeds browsing, Facebook sharing with built in WebView?, auto resize images while viewing feed item, Splashscreen, webpage load progress and correct width (for portrait) in built in WebView?
