Belle update issues - App quits in background
As nice as eagerly awaited Belle update was for Symbian^3 devices it also uncovered few issues in gNewsReader application There have been 2 issues reported by users
- Application quits in background - This can be triggered by either launching other QML apps such as Facinate, fMobi or by launching default browser from within application using open browser link.
- Swiping down notification bar in belle crashes the application
I am happy to report that cause of issue 1 has been identified and will be fixed shortly (1 week or so depending on how fast store QA processes the submitted fix)
For issue 2 as per current investigation is only limited to certain devices and can be fixed by removing qt-component currently installed and re-installing it by installing QML application using the same such as gNewsReader, fMobi or dropian. If you are suffering from any other issues post belle update please post them here
In E6-00 Belle there is an issue of parts of or the entire the text area being blacked out after going through some number of posts. Usually so that when reading about the 10th post, the right edge of the screen becomes black (also the bottom, if the post is long), then the next post is totally black, after which things turn to normal.
Looks like a memory issue might be a bug either in base component or my code. Looks like will need to send you a test build to investigate more
May have been already reported but updated to Belle FP1 yesterday on Nokia 700. Sadly gNewsReader no longer functions. I get the logo when starts then black screen for a few seconds then exit.
Would be grateful for a fix as this is one of the most useful apps currently available for Symbian.
thanks, J
Yes I noticed that you had put this up as issue in store review and after doing some analysis I have identified code which can cause this issue on Belle FP1 device. I plan to test this on RDA as I myself don't have a Belle FP1 device (just C7 and E6). If you don't mind testing it let me know yogeshwarp [at] google's mail gmail [dot] com (It will involve removing the current store version and you will need to re-authorize the app and I will need device IMEI key).
In any case I will update this thread post RDA testing
